LIVERPOOL MASONIC HALL OPEN DAY - COINCIDENT WITH THE HOPE STREET FEAST

The heavy and persistent rain which fell throughout the day of the Hope Street Feast may have put a damper on the al fresco attractions available to the thousands of people who attended this year’s  annual festival of food, produce and the performing arts.  However, the bad weather undoubtedly boosted the number of people who took the opportunity to visit Liverpool Masonic Hall, at 22 Hope Street, which had thrown it’s doors open to the general public for the day.  A continual stream of visitors made good use of the bar as well as the refreshments provided by the catering staff. The “scouse”, red cabbage and buttered rolls were particularly in demand and Hall Manager Dave Woodward and his team were constantly busy supplying hot tea and coffee.  It was not just the refreshments which were an attraction as many visitors chose to take the guided tours of the lodge rooms and facilities. Liverpool Masonic Hall 2015 Appeal Committee members and volunteers acted as tour leaders. They gave explanations and were pleased to answer many interested questions from visitors as well as describing in general terms the operations of the Craft and the history of the Hall. Indeed such was the demand for these tours that there was often a short wait so that parties of a reasonable number could be escorted safely and effectively around the various rooms.

The West Lancashire Regalia shop was manned by Derek Cadwallader and Dave Kelleher who did a brisk trade in masonic and similar items. The cuff-links and badges continue to prove particularly popular items. All profits made from sales go to the Liverpool Masonic Hall Building Fund.

The West Lancashire Provincial trailer stand was open outside the Lodge and the representatives of the West Lancashire Masonic Charity, Colin Rowling and John Smith were on hand to brief members of the public at their display in the main corridor.

The Chairman of the Liverpool Masonic Hall 2015 Appeal, Sam Robinson, the Secretary, Steve Walls and the Treasurer Steve Kayne together with their helpers are to be congratulated in managing the day and providing a warm welcome to the public. They are pleased that this year’s Open Day has been the most successful yet in terms of the numbers of visitors to the Hall. There is no question that Liverpool Masonic Hall is an excellent conference and banqueting centre and the Committee are hoping that this Open Day will lead to more bookings and interest from individuals and organisations seeking a prestigious venue for their events.

The next Hope Street Feast will be held on Sunday 18 September 2011, and will undoubtedly prove to be another busy day for the Hall Committee members.
